Gaskins + LeCraw’s Campus Planning and Community Development team is leading this joint City/University initiative focused on reimagining a mile long stretch of non-descript commercial uses. Through a series of public workshops, a Vison Plan will emerge to help guide the transformation of this important link between the University of West Georgia and the City of Carrollton into a safe, attractive, cohesive, pedestrian-oriented destination. A key component of the planning effort is the identification of Action Projects intended to catalyze redevelopment and private investment along the corridor. Projects discussed thus far include modifying the existing roadway to promote a pedestrian-first environment, reconfiguring problematic intersections to enhance safety and developing design guidelines for all streetscape elements to ensure a cohesive aesthetic quality along the corridor. These projects should lead to economic vitality along the corridor and strengthen the bond between campus and downtown.
